Thicker Than Blood

Site-specific installation using video, tracing paper, calligraphy, paper exploring the legend of the previous inhabitants of Preston Manor, UK. Commissioned for Unravelled funded by ACE, 2010. In this work Plum researched the narrative of the building, and its previous occupants, including themes of forbidden love, exile, abandonment and disinheritance. Long time collaborator Nicola Keith joins Plum, embodying a minimalist choreographic exploration of the characters who inhabited the manor and the lingering emotional imprint on architecture that follows. Projected onto the mirror in the main bedroom, with hidden surround soundscape, this apparition was embedded into the fabric of the building.
