Alter-Native

Installation commissioned for Shunt, London, using voice recordings, paper, calligraphy and string with durational performance. In this piece Plum performed for 2 hours reciting words from texts supplied by other artists in the exhibition describing their own work in three languages. Developing a choreography from embodied slow motion singing in order to break through the physical and mental barriers of performance as they regained their voice after illness, the words are written on their body, the pages suspended through the air, and chanted in a performance inspired by collected experiences of various types of religious singing and their practice in qigong.

Shown as part of "Brussels meets Brighton: the Metahub", Shunt Lounge, London,

May 2008.
